painting has begun!!

i chose all of the paint colors last night and couldn't wait to get home to start putting color on! here are a few photos of how it's coming along...

second coat went on this morning...once the grey is all finished, i'll decide on all the fun details! the insides of the drawers, the fabric detail and possibly some hand painting!

priming...done..!

i finished priming tonight!! now i get to start the fun part....COLOR! i decided to keep some of the detail of each piece, seeing there were such cool indentations on the drawers and doors. now each piece will have the wood tones to give them some dimension.

here are the drawers for the longer low dresser. i'm thinking the diamond shapes left in the bare wood are going to look so cool!!

the nightstand...with part of the drawer left in bare wood

the long upper drawers for the tallboy dresser. i am just loving the diamond shapes!

here's a photo of the footboard...and then the sliding doors that go on the headboard

there are two of these doors, that go on the bottom of the highboy dresser. i'm playing around with the idea of doing some sort of stencil on the doors.....maybe?!

and finally, the mirror that attaches to the long low dresser

tomorrow i am going paint shopping....i've decided to do a semi-gloss on all of the furniture. it holds up well to wear and tear and it has such a nice sheen to it. the bare wood accents on each piece will be waxed with a furniture paste to give them a nice finish and sheen.

mid century nursery

last night after i finished sanding all of the furniture for the nursery, i decided to take some 'before' photos! i absolutely love the lines of this bedroom set....the detail is wonderful.

now that all the sanding is finished, the repair on some of the corners and pieces of the veneer can start...then the fun part...painting!! i love the immediate transformation of bare wood to paint.

the cool nightstand, with brass details

here's the tallboy dresser. aren't the long diamond shapes in the drawers so cool?!

here are the drawers for the long lower dresser...again, the diamond shape on the top ones!

crib inspiration

i'm getting ready to go choose paint for the nursery project...so i've been looking at photos of things to get me inspired! i found a photo of an adorable crib, in grey....a little lighter shade than we're thinking, but it looks great. not the 'normal' crib color. i think for the nursery project, the grey will be a nice pewter/charcoal grey mix. the crib i'm painting is from ikea...nice simple lines. it'll look so pretty painted!

here are the inspiration photos...i love the modern, clean lines and the unexpected grey:

here's the ikea crib that i'll be painting....i love the simplicity of it. the grey will make it adorable!

mid century nursery

i picked up the furniture for the custom nursery project, on wednesday! i am so excited to do it...this sweet little girl will have the most hip, adorable nursery! i'll post some 'before' photos of the mid century furniture, crib and little table and chairs...

i'm thinking a mid toned charcoal grey on furniture...and some nice wood tones left on the furniture in certain spots...and to make it look feminine and girlie...some accents of the raspberry and avacado. i've got to add some unexpected details!

i started sanding last night.....so project is underway!

pics coming soon!

mod footstool

again, i'm a sucker for mid century furniture...as you can see! the footstool here had some greyish vinyl fabric on it and the legs were showing their age. but i loved it, and knew it could look cool again. i refinished the legs and found some simple mid-century looking fabric for the top!

here it is before....

mid century cabinet

i finally finished up with a cool mid century cabinet. i found it in this store in iowa about 6 months ago....it was a place that i could've stayed at and dug around for hours! i ended up coming back with a nice mid century low boy dresser with 9 drawers, this little cabinet and the little green nightstand i've posted about. i might need to take another road trip to this place!

i love the dark navy paint and the bright green and navy mod fabric on the doors!

here is the little guy before i rehabbed it....he was in awful shape!

and look at what i found on the bottom of the cabinet...a little note...i love finding things like this on old pieces of furniture. it tells a little story :)

deco set...

remember the deco waterfall dresser i posted about the other day...i took some pictures of the nightstand and twin bed that are the same style. like i said, i'm not usually one for the matchy matchy...BUT i love this set! it would be so beautiful in a guest room or childs room!

i found the dresser about 2 months ago...the twin bed about a month later and the night stand just last week. i can't believe some people get rid of furniture like this! it will be amazing once its rehabbed!

do you love it as much as me?!
