mid-century hutch

the mid-century style is one of my favorites...and this hutch is gorgeous! when i get a mid-century piece i like to keep some of its originality if at all possible...meaning, if it has some wood thats in good shape, then i like to leave it. the contrast between the wood and the paint is something i love to see! i also think that the paint technique is really important for different styles of furniture. for mid-century furniture, i tend to cleanly paint them. they have such nice simple clean lines and the distressed look on something like that doesnt quite go together. the bones of this hutch were in great shape and needed a good cleaning.

i decided to use a dark gray, because i thought it was a nice contrast with the chestnut colored wood. the original hardware was all there and is to DIE for!!!
