so, i know this site isn't updated all too often, but that doesn't mean things aren't happening!! i DO make posts almost every day for the shop...new things out on the floor...new events and exciting news...custom projects being finished...and all sorts of other things! BUT the posts seem to be so much easier to just put on facebook, instead of on here. i need to get better about posting on the 'official' site (here) and not just on facebook...because i know not everyone is on facebook!

so, that's my goal in the coming months...but until then, please check out the adourn facebook page for posts and new things at the shop!

new store hours:

with the birth of our first baby coming in december....this 'mama-to-be' has been ordered to rest a little bit more! the shop hours will be changing slightly, for now:

we'll be opening an hour later on wed, thurs, & fri

11-6pm wed-fri

same hours on wknds!
sat: 11-5
sun: 12-4

more classes!!

in october, i'll be posting for more workshops! i've had so much interest in having more classes, that i'd love to get everyone signed up that's interested. there will be another 'BASICS PAINTING WORKSHOP' offered, along with a new class for younger girls...i'll post more on that a little later. but i think it would be so fun to have a group of teenagers come in and do a fun project...so, mama's, let your girls know something fun will be coming soon! i have a young gal, that's going to help me get all of that organized....she's so fun and creative, can't wait to come up with some fun ideas with her!

BASICS painting workshop

hey gals....i finally was able to get some dates together for the BASICS painting workshop!!! this is for the 'beginner' painter. if you haven't had much experience painting accessories or furniture, this is a great class for you!

we will be going over 3 different techniques, so you can use that knowledge to create your own pieces!

2 different sessions:

~ thursday sept 12th @ 6:15pm (8-10 person max, 5 person min)
~ saturday sept 21 st @ 9am (8-10 person max, 5 person min)

~classes will be around 1.5-2hrs in length...and yes there will be times where we are sitting there watching paint dry :)

what you'll learn:

~ a basic distressing technique
~ a color wash
~ a 2 color technique

what will be included:

~your own sample paint pot....when you sign up you'll let me know a color you love and want to work with during the workshop and i'll pick that up. (you'll take left over paint home with you)
~ a paint brush (you'll take home with you)
~ sandpaper and cloths
~ 3 sample boards to practice on (can take home with you if you'd like)
~ snacks and drinks :)

what you will need to bring:

this will be a basics class, and bringing a small item will ensure you'll be able to finish your project and it'll be small enough to get an idea of how to use the techniques.

~ a small accessory....possibly a wooden picture frame, a cool box, a decorative wall piece. (something wooden)
~ wear painting clothes or bring an apron....don't want your nice clothes to get stained!!

what the cost will be:

~ the cost will be $50 per person. please only commit if you are for sure you're able to make the class. there has been alot of interest, so i want to make sure the class is filled with people that will be here. payment due day of class.

vintage rolling pin kitchen racks

i just found a bunch of vintage rolling pins and i'm absolutely in love with them! the beautiful wood, the paint chipping off of the handles and all of the different sizes and shapes. instead of just hanging them on rolling pin racks or putting them in a crock or something...i thought it would be fun to actually 'use' them! i decided to make some kitchen racks out of them, to hang towels on, coats, a pan or two...or even some kitchen utensils!

i just finished one this morning and i'm loving how its turned out!!! more to come!
