henna is FULL

the henna event is full!!! thanks ladies...i'm VERY excited about saturday night!

see you all at 5:30~ for henna, snacks, and cocktails!!!

antique footboard hanging rack

i found this full size headboard and footboard at an auction a while ago....i've wanted to come up with another idea on how to use them...here it is!!

i LOVE how it turned out! it would be perfect for an entry rack to hang jackets...

$150

mid-century dresser...

this dresser is GORGEOUS...not just because i drool over mid-century furniture, but because the mint green color i painted it looks so perfect with the dark, rich tones of the wood...AND because of the subtle curve of the top drawers...

$350

original hardware

the subtle curve of the top drawers is so beautiful!

this is the tone/color of the paint...a nice soft mint!

bo's FIRST photo shoot...

i love having candid joy photography here!!! bo had his FIRST photo shoot today, for valentines day!

custom dresser...DONE!

i just finished a custom dresser for a client...it turned out great! she is putting in her little sons bedroom...its going to be a skateboard-punk room! i think this fits it very well!

gorgeous eastlake dresser...

i got this at an auction recently and it was missing its hardware, but the piece was really solid and good shape. i immediately saw 'black' with a handpainted design....i found some vintage looking pulls for it and they look great! i ended up painting the sides of the drawers on this one...a bright red...love the little surprise when you open the drawers!

$310

look at this AMAZING scalloped dovetailing on the drawers...i've never seen that before, its gorgeous!

new pieces on the floor!

i've been busy the last week getting new things finished to get out on the floor! i just got a bunch of very cool vintage things at an auction, so the i started with that...a gorgeous chest of drawers with little doors on the top! it turned out so great...the paint flaked off and it looks old and worn....and i added a pop of color on the inside drawers!

$350

i LOVE, LOVE mid century furniture, and i haven't rehabbed any lately, so i grabbed a cool danish side table out of storage and painted it a nice mint green.. the wood finish on the drawer was a nice tone, so i left that natural. it turned out really nice and clean. i love it!

$130

i wanted to do something fun to 2 vintage chairs i had...so i put some sticky vinyl on the seats and cut out a design and then painted over it....and then once the paint was dry, pulled the design off and exposed the original wood!

$85 each

new shop windows!

i took all of the holiday display out of the windows earlier this week and put up some 'valentine' garland! they turned out pretty cute!

the first 'ladies night' at adourn!

so the first 'ladies night' at adourn will be on Saturday January 26th, at 5:30 pm. A fun evening with your girlfriends to do something a little different!

we'll be having a henna artist come in and paint gorgeous designs! i've had henna painting quite a few times...its so beautiful! i've chosen to have my hands painted, and here are a couple photos of the designs i chose last time i had it done....

the artist will have examples of all of the designs she'll be able to do on you. the process is fun to watch as well....she'll use a cone to paint the henna on your skin and it's sort of a thick paste. then the paste will begin to dry and flake off. you want to keep the paste on as long as you can, so it dries completely...this is how the stain will adhere to the skin. in my experience, the stain has stayed on the skin for around 7-10 days...but some of my friends have had it stay on longer...i think it really depends on the type of skin you have.

here's a link to get a little more info on the art of mehndi:
http://www.puja.com/mehndi/

you could go bolder like i did in the photos...or you could have your palm painted or maybe just a little design in a place thats not as noticeable!

the class will be able to hold 12-15 ladies. it'll last around 2 hours...so you can stay and hang out with your girlfriends and have some cocktails....or if you're in a hurry, you can take off once your design is done!

the cost will $30 per person and of course the henna painting and cocktails are included!

please RSVP by calling 507.251.4202 or by sending an email to: shopadourn@gmail.com

** i won't be asking for half down at time of reservation, so please only register if you know you are FOR SURE able to make it. OR please cancel at least 10 days before the event, so other ladies are able to join. the artist is coming down from the cities, so as courtesy to her....please make sure you can attend before you register!

*if the class fills up, you will be put on a waitlist, just in case there is a cancellation!

here is the artists facebook page and website: she does AMAZING work, im very excited to have her come and do the event!
