mod footstool

again, i'm a sucker for mid century furniture...as you can see! the footstool here had some greyish vinyl fabric on it and the legs were showing their age. but i loved it, and knew it could look cool again. i refinished the legs and found some simple mid-century looking fabric for the top!

here it is before....

mid century cabinet

i finally finished up with a cool mid century cabinet. i found it in this store in iowa about 6 months ago....it was a place that i could've stayed at and dug around for hours! i ended up coming back with a nice mid century low boy dresser with 9 drawers, this little cabinet and the little green nightstand i've posted about. i might need to take another road trip to this place!

i love the dark navy paint and the bright green and navy mod fabric on the doors!

here is the little guy before i rehabbed it....he was in awful shape!

and look at what i found on the bottom of the cabinet...a little note...i love finding things like this on old pieces of furniture. it tells a little story :)

deco set...

remember the deco waterfall dresser i posted about the other day...i took some pictures of the nightstand and twin bed that are the same style. like i said, i'm not usually one for the matchy matchy...BUT i love this set! it would be so beautiful in a guest room or childs room!

i found the dresser about 2 months ago...the twin bed about a month later and the night stand just last week. i can't believe some people get rid of furniture like this! it will be amazing once its rehabbed!

do you love it as much as me?!

exciting news...to come soon..!

my garage is STUFFED full of furniture waiting to be rehabbed! and the custom projects are coming in....yikes..so much to do! i absolutely LOVE it! i'm trying to figure out where and what to do from here...i have some things in the works and hopefully soon i'll have it all figured out! i'm very excited about what may be happening...

custom nursery project!

SO excited about this project...a nursery for a little baby girl, that she can 'grow into'. i love that idea! all of the furniture is mid-century, which i absolutely adore. mommy is so sweet and has great taste!

she found all of the furnitue: a full size bed, a highboy dresser, a low-long dresser (that will be used as a changing table), a nightstand, a cute little table and chairs, and a crib. it sounds like she's an amazing seamstress...she found the most wonderful fabrics to make all of the bedding and draperies! Here's a sneak peak at our inspiration fabric...i have some very cool ideas for all of the furniture!!

more photos coming soon..both before and afters!

deco style

so, remember the cool deco dresser from my last post?! i just found two amazing twin bed frames and a night stand that are the same waterfall deco style as this dresser! i am SO excited about it...i'm usually not into the 'matchy matchy' style, but this set would look adorable in a child's room or guest room.

pictures to come soon! and i haven't touched either of the twin beds or the nightstand, either....so it could be a custom set for someone!

antique footstool

the turning of the wood legs is so pretty! i loved this little footstool because its actually made out of old fruit crates....the labels are still somewhat on the boards its made from! i decided to leave the legs as they were, to keep the character of it. the modern grey and white fabric adds nice contrast to the old legs.

orange deco piano seat

when i found this, the finish was scratched off, nicked up and looked terrible. i added this fun bright deco fabric and painted the seat in a gloss orange. the top actually comes off the seat, so you can store things inside of it. the inside is lined in a pretty lime polka dot fabric!

lime floral chair

i've had this fabric for a while and thought it would be perfect for this chair! i pulled out the limey green and painted the chair with that. great for a desk chair, or an accent chair.

mid century side table

i love this little table! i couldn't figure out what to do with it....i didn't want it to look old, because of the sleek lines of the mid century style. so i figured i would paint it dark grey...and then i decided to try to add a little detail to it. i found some metallic copper paint and did the bottom third in that! it turned out great!

little blue

i saw this little rocking horse and had to have it! he needed some work, but turned out so cute. he has a little burlap ribbon tail and distressed turquoise body.

sold...

the farm table sold this morning! i met up with a super sweet gal from minneapolis, named kate and her 4 month old puppy this morning...and they ended up taking the table home with them...enjoy!!

tray table

i love the lines and detail carving on this little tray table. the tray actually comes off, so you're able to serve on it! i used a rich cornflower blue to paint the main part of it and then a goldenrod to accent the tray. i also etched the glass on top of the tray to add a little 'something' to it.

coral side table

i found this little guy at a re-use store...i am in love with mid century furniture, so i had to get it. the color shows up a little more pink than it really is. its more of a coral color. i added some lace stencil to it, to pretty it up a bit.

nightstand

this little night stand was a disaster when i found it...it needed alot of work! i used a soft pale green and found this cool fabric that is laminated to put on the top and inside shelf. the little white flower pulls are vintage from an old headboard i found. they worked perfect for this little piece.

rocking chair

i absolutely LOVE this little rocking chair! its a pretty grass green color with a little elephant painted on it.

buffet

this 40's buffet was in rough shape! but i loved the lines and detail of it. i painted the outside a soft pale blue and distressed it....and wanted the inside to 'pop'. so i chose a bright tangerine color! the outer of the buffet is a satin finish and the inside is a nice high gloss....i love the contrast. i wanted to add a little bit of detail, so i found this cool stencil and stenciled the inside shelving and the drawers. i also added some grey felt to one of the drawers for delicate items being placed inside. i found these really interesting pulls at anthropologie and thought they'd be perfect for the drawers! it turned out great!
